Not much is known about Paul’s childhood, because he doesn’t like to talk about it: not with his daughter, at least. As far as she knows, her grandfather was an abusive alcoholic who drank himself to death when the First Sergeant was seventeen. Her grandmother Bessie died a month before she was born.

Paul served in the Army for twenty-five years, retiring just a month before the 9/11 tragedy. During his military career, he had many accomplishments: he was Airborne, a recruiter, a Drill Sergeant, deployed 4 times, serving in the Persian Gulf War and in other conflicts. As a soldier, he was well-respected and well-decorated.

As a father, well… He’s a bit on the overprotective side. After his wife disappeared during one of his many deployments, Paul started to fear what could happen to his child, and kept her sheltered. She went to live away for college only because she insisted she was ready.

Now if he could just get rid of the boyfriend…
